Our word of the week is il GAS. This is not il gas, which means "gas" (except the stuff you put in your car, which is benzina.) No, I'm talking about a Gruppo d'Acquisto Solidale, a form of grass roots purchasing in which a group of peeps buys stuff (food, but not only) to save money but also to engage in fair trade, organic and sustainable practices, and the good ole eliminating-the-middleman. The people usually live nearby and/or know each other.
