We are having our Indian summer here in the Boston area, easily the best weather for a region that doesn't see much of it for the rest of the year. I myself am weary after twelve New England winters, and am looking to spend this one elsewhere. Perhaps in central Italy.
Do the Italians have an Indian summer? Yes, but they don't call it that, of course. In fact I'm surprised that someone hasn't renamed it the Native American summer. But as I was saying. The Italians call their fall spell of mild weather "estate di San Martino," because it is said to generally coincide with the name day of Saint Martin on November 11th.
