The great tenor Luciano Pavarotti has died at the age of 71. Like most people from Emilia, he was simpatico, but sometimes a bad boy (tax evasion, leaving his wife of 36 years for someone 34 years his junior). Here he is belting out E lucevan le stelle from Tosca, my favorite aria. He says: "muoio disperato" (I die in desperation), but actually he died a happy and fulfilled man.
