Amazon is coming to Italy

According to the Italian tech site BitMAP, the giant online retailer Amazon will soon formally announce its entry into the Italian market. Its publicity has already appeared as "teaser" ads (no mention of the company's name) in Milan and Rome.

Until recently, conditions were not ideal for large-scale e-commerce in Italy, as broadband and credit card use is not as widespread there as in the US. Although online retailers obviously exist and prosper, such as Internet Bookshop Italia, which sells books, e-books, music, movies and games, and ships abroad. But it is likely that Italian Amazon, like its American counterpart, will offer a wider variety of stuff.
