Italian false friends

I've already provided an explanation of false friends and a list of same.

Here is another list from the Garzanti linguistica site. The format has the English word, its meaning in Italian, an example used in a sentence, and finally what it does not correspond to (the word following "non"). It was written with Italian users in mind, and is based on UK usage e.g. "conservatorio" is given as a false friend, which it obviously is not in American English.

To access the site, which includes Garzanti's Italian-English dictionary and language exercises, you will need to complete a short, free registration.
