For almost ten years, a project has been going on, supported by the weekly magazine L'Espresso, to gather in dictionary form the current slang of Italy. The Slangopedia is a work in progress, with new entries being supplied by (mostly) young people to the magazine by e-mail.
A cursory look at the dictionary shows a great emphasis on drugs, alcohol and sex. The influence of English and new technology is also apparent.
